Professional Experience

Chris Rainwater Photos.

I have been very fortunate to serve in critical management positions and to work with some great leaders. Whether managing as the top executive in public sector corporations or managing in the private sector or the armed forces, I've gained a great deal of experience. The following is a partial skill set:

  • Program and Project Management
  • Development, implementation, and management of operating policies and procedures
  • Development and management of operational budgets from $8 million to $35 million and capital budgets above $50 million.
  • Recruiting, Hiring, Supervision, Development, Training, and Leadership to staffs as small as 50 and as large as 215.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written communication, verbal communication, presentations, lectures, media relations, and published materials.
  • Negotiating, including labor negotiations, and contracting.
  • Critical thinking in daily decision making process to advance organizational objectives.

I am a student of leadership, and therefore I have truly come to terms with what type of leader I want to be and try to be. It’s my experience that the best leaders among us have the ability to transform things around them in a positive way. In the simplest explanation: to make a bad situation better or to right the correction of a ship now drifting. There are so many ways in which this can be done, but I believe that the best way is to provide focus, motivate, and take a step back. In my experience, those leaders and managers who feel that they must micromanage every situation and every employee ultimately fail. People are generally intelligent and well-intentioned, and a good leader brings out the best in everyone for the overall benefit of the organization. Transformational leaders have a rich and successful history throughout the world, and I see examples of it all the time.

Whether working as a legal professional, a college instructor, or as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Air Force in the harsh climate of the Saudi Arabian desert, I had to prove myself over and over. Those experiences only increased my readiness for the roles I trained and went to school for: executive level leadership and management. It is my hope that all of my professional experience, including my writing, lecturing, and spirit of volunteerism, make me a worthy candidate for a position requiring true leadership, effective management, strong communications, and the ability to truly get the job done.
