The law and government are, of course, very closely related. It is no surprise then that I initially worked in the field of law before deciding that, ultimately, my career goals rested more in professional/community service areas, including government. It was then that I decided not to go to law school, but to proceed to work towards both a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Doctorate.
I was very fortunate while in the legal field to be recognized by my peers for excellence in this field. As a result, I was asked to give professional lectures on numerous occasions. Of course, this experience went hand-in-hand with my experience as an instructor of both legal and non-legal courses. It was during this period that four legal practice manuals authored or co-authored by me were published, including: - Medical Malpractice for the Experienced Paralegal, Institute for Paralegal Education, 2000
- Case Management for the Litigation Paralegal in Georgia, Institute for Paralegal Education, 2000
- Practical Discovery: Medical Malpractice – Defense Perspective, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, 1998
- Legal Research, West Georgia Regional Library System, 1997
